Benefits

A Union is about so much more than contract negotiations - it’s also about taking care of one another. This page lists special benefits that one can only access as a PFF member as well as protections and discounts from the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the AFL-CIO, under which PFF operates. If you haven’t yet joined PFF, please click the button below.

For any questions about Union benefits, contact PFF Executive Director, Debbie Forward, at debbieforward1@gmail.com.

BENEFITS CREATED by PFF for PFF MEMBERS

CONFERENCE FUNDING

Funds are for conference registration fees and available on a first-come, first-served basis. In an academic year, each PFF member is eligible for an allotment of up to $500, regardless of the number of trips requested.

EMERGENCY FUNDING

Financial assistance is available for PFF part-time or full-time faculty members in need due to an emergency. Examples of situations that create unforeseen financial challenges include (but are not limited to):

    and/or exceptional medical bills

  • House fire

Keep in mind that this funding is for one-time financial hardship and is not intended as general, ongoing financial help.

An ad hoc committee determines the amount of funds to be distributed, which is up to $599 for a Union member within an academic year. Click here to apply.

Requests will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additional resources are available through the San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council, and both EASE and AFT offer financial counseling services.
