Article 15 (Compensation): IN PROGRESS
We presented our initial proposal for Article 15 today. While we do not want to get into specific details while negotiations are ongoing, we are proposing salary increases for all faculty, improvements to how CTE faculty can move across grades, changes to how part-time salary grades and steps are calculated, increases in part-time faculty office hours, additional compensation for CPL assessment and bilingual interpretation duties, among other smaller details and clarification. We are very proud of the level of preparation that went into our proposal and are especially grateful to our PFF Parity Project team for their heavy lifting related to PT salary research. There may be multiple counters as we negotiate Article 15, and we hope to see the District’s first response at our next meeting.
Appendix F (Reassigned Time and Stipends): IN PROGRESS
We presented our initial proposal for Appendix F, which includes some adjustments to a few existing positions and some repeated requests for new reassigned time. We provided ample rationale and documentation backing up our proposal and hope that the District sees value in what we have proposed.
Appendix G (Salary Schedules): IN PROGRESS
This goes along with Article 15, and we presented our initial proposal for changes to the part-time salary schedules.
Appendix H (Coaching Stipends and Reassigned Time): IN PROGRESS
The District presented their third counterproposal. While we have not yet reached agreement, we understand their position related to our proposal and will hopefully be able to TA on this Appendix after consultation with our coaching colleague representatives.
District MOU Non-Traditional Season Stipend: SIGNED
We agreed to an MOU providing a one-time $1200 stipend to coaching faculty who participated in non-traditional season work during the 2022/23 school year. This MOU does not interfere with our ongoing negotiations for Appendix H.
PFF MOU DE Mentor Program: IN PROGRESS
We presented an MOU that would provide compensation for faculty distance education mentors in a pilot program for the 2023/24 academic year. We expect a response from the District at the next meeting.
PFF MOU PETAL: IN PROGRESS
We presented an MOU that would provide compensation for faculty to participate in the new teaching PD program Palomar Excellence in Teaching and Learning (PETAL) over Summer 2023. This would be funded by Guided Pathways. We expect to sign this MOU shortly.
PFF MOU CALM Pathways Compensation: IN PROGRESS
We presented an MOU that would provide compensation for faculty to participate in the CALM Pathways ZTC/OER program this April-June. We expect to sign this MOU shortly.
At our next meeting on April 26, we expect the District to provide their initial proposal for Article 20 (Working Conditions), as well as their counters/responses to Article 15, Appendix F, and our MOUs from today. We will plan on presenting our counterproposals to Article 17 (Evaluations) and Appendix H. We are hopeful we will be able to complete the three-year contract negotiations for 2022-2025 before the next fiscal year starts…and then immediately sunshine reopeners for 2023/24.
