One Faculty Week

April 27-30

At the heart of One Faculty is a simple truth: Faculty working conditions are student learning conditions.

When faculty have stability, access to resources, and the support they need, students benefit from stronger instruction, greater consistency, and deeper engagement.

Too often inequalities between part-time and full-time faculty create barriers not only for educators but for the students we serve.

Better faculty support leads to stronger learning and better outcomes for everyone. This is why One Faculty is not just about us—it’s about our students.

JOIN US FOR A WEEK OF EXPLORING THE POSSIBILITIES!

Join us in the EDGE, H-114, for the award-winning film Adjunct:

A promising writer-turned-adjunct college professor grapples with the harsh reality of being undervalued and disposable in academia. As he confronts mounting disillusionment, he must chart a new path forward. A deeply personal meditation on purpose, identity, and resilience in a system that prizes flexibility over commitment.

We'll have a popcorn machine and other fixins...swag, including our new One Faculty t-shirts...and a thoughtful, layered discussion with the director after the film.

Join us for some or all!

Get PD! What better way?? Hey, PT—remember it's the last week!

Tuesday.jpg

Swing by Esc-700 on the Escondido campus for the Governing Board's special meeting for thoughts on the student experience. Maybe some pizza? Maybe some t-shirts and swag?

Wednesday.jpg

Full-time faculty: Join us from 10-11 on Zoom.

We’ll share a brief overview of the One Faculty model, then open it up to questions, concerns, and practical considerations. How might a stronger, more integrated faculty support our work, our standards, and our students? What might it look like for hiring and evaluations? How might it fortify academic freedom and tenure? If we're building a better system, what should it look like?

Part-time faculty: Join us from 12-1 on Zoom.

We’ll share a brief overview of the One Faculty model, then open it up to questions, concerns, and practical considerations. How might a stronger, more integrated faculty support our work, our standards, and our students? What might it look like for pay, benefits, and professional responsibilities? What would it mean for job security and retirement? If we're building a better system, what should it look like?

Or sign up to get credit through PD! Hey, PT—remember, it's the last week!

Thursday.jpg

This is where it all comes together—a week of ideas, thinking, dreaming. Find us in the grass by the clocktower from 2-4 on the heels of Pride for a celebration. An artistic installation. Maybe some music and speakers? Definitely ice cream and treats!
