Dear Faculty Colleagues,
What a week! After several iterations, we finalized an MOU that covers this singular time of COVID19. The gist of the MOU is that Faculty will be held harmless financially during this crisis. Here are some salient details:
Faculty have the week of March 16-20 to migrate their courses to a remote platform.
The academic calendar has been changed to accommodate this transition week:
Full Semester classes will resume on March 30, 2020 and end May 23, 2020
Full Semester will be compressed by one (1) week for Spring 2020;
Fast Track 1 and 4W2 will end on April 4, 2020 (previously March 21, 2020);
Fast Track 2 will begin on April 6, 2020 (previously March 30, 2020);
Four Week 3 (4W3) will begin on April 6, 2020 (previously March 30, 2020);
Commencement Activities on May 22, 2020 are canceled
The summer sessions are not affected by these calendar changes
The remainder of the 16-week classes and the Fast Track classes will conclude on May 23rd. This gives Faculty seven weeks to complete their courses.
When it is determined by the division dean and department chair that a class cannot be conducted remotely, Faculty - both full- and part-time - will have an alternative assignment which may include curriculum development, SLO and/or accreditation work, or other projects in collaboration with their division dean.
These changes will be for the Spring 2020 semester only. If this crisis continues beyond that, we will renegotiate this matter.
We recognize that this is a stressful time for everyone, and we want to reassure you that the number one priority of the PFF Negotiation Team is to help ensure that our Faculty remain financially covered and to protect your rights as Faculty.
