Summer Update - June 28th
Hello and happy summer! This week, the Negotiations team met for the first time this summer with the District. We also met twice this week for class cap negotiations–the first time the District has been able to meet for class caps since January.
We had a full agenda. Here are a few of the highlights:
MOUs
We presented one MOU to increase the amount of reassigned time for our Curriculum Co-Chair to offset the increased workload caused by AB-928, AB-1111, and changes to Title 5
The District presented an MOU to reduce the amount of reassigned time for AB 1705 coordinators in English, ESL, and Math.
Discussion
Sample CTE placements under the new contract language and guidance for CTE faculty
Ongoing salary placement concerns
Ongoing ISA (or lack thereof) concerns
Effects of changes to Spring Break 2025 due to calendar changes
Availability of feminine products on campus
At our two class caps meetings, we reviewed our last few departments to negotiate. For context, we have been working with the District to create a clean list of class caps for each department before opening up the list for new requests and changes. We have just a few departments left and have continued to advocate on their behalf.
Next Class Caps Meeting: Wednesday, July 10th
Next Negotiations Meeting: Thursday, July 18th
